Airbnb’s Top Ski Destinations Include Mountains in California, Utah, More

With ski season just around the corner, the excitement among winter enthusiasts and travelers is palpable. Across the world, travelers are planning for some amazing ski trips. However, from the vast range of mountains that grace the planet, a few are attracting more interest than others, particularly those that have gained popularity due to their exceptional facilities and scenic beauty.

In this regard, one destination has emerged as an undeniable favorite. Big Bear Lake, located in sunny southern California, has been declared the most sought-after ski destination projected for the year. The town boasts of two significant ski resorts, Snow Summit and Bear Mountain, both offering unique winter sports experiences to their guests.

Yet, the allure of ski destinations isn’t limited to just California. Following Big Bear Lake in its popularity is Breckenridge in Colorado, a town famous for its ski resort located in the Rocky Mountains. Further north, Canada’s Whistler has also been attracting attention among skiers. Outside North America, Tromsø in Norway and Chamonix-Mont-Blanc in France have secured places on the list of the top ten most-desired ski destinations.

Back in the United States, California’s Mammoth Lakes, which houses both the June Mountain and Mammoth Mountain, secured the sixth spot on the list. Park City and Colorado’s Steamboat Springs also made it to the list, declared as the seventh and eighth most popular ski destination, respectively.

In addition to skiing, an interesting trend among travelers within the United States has been observed as they seek winter trips to more distant locations like Tokyo, Osaka, and Aruba, indicating a combined preference for urban landscapes and tropical islands. Closer to home, Indianapolis has been emerging as a popular option for domestic winters trips, highlighting the desire for new and diverse experiences.

Highlighting these trends in winter travel destination is Airbnb, the largest online marketplace for lodging and tourism experiences. They have introduced a range of updates aimed at simplifying the booking process for their users, encompassing features that make destination selection more straightforward based on user’s search and booking history. In addition to helpful search tips, users can also benefit from redesigned search filters to refine their choices based on their history and current search parameters.

Emphasizing the spirit of these updates, Tara Bunch, the global head of operations at Airbnb, stated that the company is looking forward to making it even easier to book travel on Airbnb. Through features like suggested destinations and personalized listing highlights, Airbnb aims to cater to a guest’s unique travel needs and preferences, making them central to their search process.

To further streamline the user experience, Airbnb is also simplifying the checkout process for returning customers by providing critical details at a glance. New customers are also being welcomed with a guided tour to help them navigate through the app.

However, this isn’t the first time Airbnb has made efforts to update and improve their user experience. Previous updates from the company have introduced elements like a new Icons category boasting unique stays and experiences globally, and a redesigned ratings page with features like review sorting. These constant improvements are testament to Airbnb’s commitment to continually enhancing their service, catering to the dynamic needs of travelers and hosts alike.
