Buzzworthy | Waco bakery takes Central Texas tastebuds around the globe

Travel enthusiast turned entrepreneur, Adeline Camarena, embarked on an exciting journey which led her to change her path and explore her real passion. From visiting world-famous destinations across the globe to starting her own bakery, her story is definitely inspiring. The journey wasn’t easy, but the exciting triumph makes it worth sharing.

Having always been fascinated by different cultures and their unique offerings, Adeline Camarena turned her wanderlust into a successful career. After receiving her Associate’s degree in Culinary Arts, Camarena found her passion leaning more towards baking rather than general food prep. Feeling unsatisfied with a mundane routine life, she decided to travel Europe with a friend. It was this trip that reshaped her outlook and triggered a new path in her life.

Inspired by the culture, food and people of Europe, she found herself falling head over heels in love with the novelty. The experience was so moving that she was compelled to plan another trip just two weeks later, for a much longer duration of seven months. Exploring new places, meeting different people and understanding their culture became Camarena’s new adventure.

On her return, she moved to Indianapolis, Indiana, looking forward to being her own boss. However, it was not long before she realized that her real calling was back in Waco, immersed in the art of baking. Yet, she wanted to offer more than just cakes, cookies, and cupcakes. She aimed to incorporate what she had experienced from her travels into her desserts, hoping to provide a taste of global delicacies to the Waco community.

Her dream slowly began materializing in 2019 when she started assiduously working on her menu, experimenting with different dessert recipes from around the world. Soon after, she managed to establish her much-anticipated ‘All Around the World Bakery’ within the premises of the Union Hall and planned to open it in April of 2020.

Unfortunately, the unforeseen COVID-19 pandemic delayed her opening for about two years. Refusing to let adversities slow her down, she organized pop-up shops around the area and established a loyal customer base. She painstakingly designed her shop, ensuring it perfectly mirrored her desired aesthetic and vision. Finally, in January 2024, ‘All Around the World Bakery’ welcomed its first customers at 119 N. 12th St., Waco, TX 76701.

‘All Around the World Bakery’ thrived and people in Waco quickly took a liking to the idea of being served international desserts. The bakery has an impressive selection of desserts, some of which include the Tiramisu, banana pudding cheesecake, French salt pie, brigaderro, and Nanaimo bars. Camarena also offers tailored cakes for special events, sugar-free, and gluten-free options, and is always open to suggestions on new additions to her menu.

Camarena is well into her entrepreneurial journey but hasn’t lost sight of the world traveler within her. Though ‘All Around the World Bakery’ has a store front now, Camarena maintains her openness to participating in community events, private events, and school events. The newly turned 29-year-old entrepreneur wishes to visit at least 20 countries by the time she turns 30, making it evident that her love for travel hasn’t dwindled.

Indeed, Camarena’s journey is a testament to how far passion and perseverance can take someone. Her story demonstrates that with determination and hard work, it is indeed possible to turn dreams into reality. Seasoned with her love for travel and garnished with her passion for baking, ‘All Around the World Bakery’ serves not just international desserts, but also a slice of global culture to its customers.
