F45 and American Cancer Society Team to Battle Cancer, Raise Awareness

In a bid to raise cancer awareness and promote a healthy lifestyle, American actor Mark Wahlberg has teamed with his group fitness franchise F45 Training to launch a 45-day fitness challenge. This initiative, in partnership with the American Cancer Society (ACS), marks the commencement of a new phase in the fight against cancer.

The F45 Challenge is set to begin on October 7, and members nationwide are invited to register and take part in this annual event. As part of the challenge and to enhance its impact, F45 Training has also partnered with Battle Cancer, an organization dedicated to raising funds and promoting awareness for cancer charities through fitness activities.

From October 21 to 27, F45 broadens its efforts through Battle Cancer. The collaboration aims to heighten awareness and generate funds for cancer charities through inspiring fitness experiences.

The F45 Challenge provides an overview of what participants can expect from the challenge on its website. The first two weeks are dedicated to setting personal goals and establishing fitness baselines. Weekly meal plans and daily habits are supported by the F45 Training app.

In weeks three and four, F45 participants are encouraged to work cohesively as a global team. The goal is to reach a combined 20-million-point target, which represents the estimated number of individuals diagnosed with cancer across the globe annually. Each day, a unique Battle Cancer workout is showcased in F45 classes. The reps from these workouts can be counted and recorded into the F45 Training app and contribute to the global total.

Weeks five and six of the F45 Challenge are dedicated to developing mental resilience and incorporating recovery into routines. In the final week, F45 members feel a further push of motivation to finish strong, improving their athletic assessments and completing final body scans.

In line with the fitness initiative, a fundraising event will also be held within the same period. Every dollar raised is equivalent to one point towards the target. All members are encouraged to join the challenge and participate in the fundraising efforts, with the Battle Cancer finishers taking place between October 21 to 27. No minimum donation is required, and participation is free of charge.

F45 members also have the opportunity to buy an exclusive F45 Challenge x Battle Cancer t-shirt. A portion of the proceeds from the sales of these t-shirts will be donated to the American Cancer Society and Battle Cancer.

“We know cancer, unfortunately, affects everyone in some way, whether it’s you who get diagnosed or a loved one,” said Tom Dowd, CEO of F45. “However, through the significant work by organizations like the American Cancer Society and Battle Cancer, we are learning about steps we can take for prevention, and it starts with physical fitness.”

The American Cancer Society estimates that 18% of all cancers and approximately 16% of cancer-related deaths in the U.S. are due to preventable factors such as physical inactivity, excess body weight, alcohol consumption, and poor nutrition. The ACS recommends adults to engage in 150-300 minutes of moderate-intensity activity or 75-150 minutes of vigorous-intensity activity weekly.

Partnerships like this with F45 Training are highly beneficial, as it could inspire people to prioritize their health, raises awareness, and offers support to those affected by cancer. This collaboration helps us reach more people in our efforts to end cancer,” said Shana Neuberger, ACS’s senior executive director of Southern California.
