For more than a decade, Bild Edmonton Metro, a home building company in Edmonton, selects one job each year for their altruistic annual Renovation Project. In the pursuit of transforming lives, they earmark a special project that involves refurbishing a part of an estate earmarked for a good cause.
Bild Edmonton Metro chose Amy’s House as the subject of this year’s renovation project. This non-profit organization plays an instrumental role in providing shelter to out-of-town cancer patients and their kin during the tenure of their treatment. Their focus this year is on renovating the basement suite, thus expanding their capacity and enhancing the comfort of their facilities.
The employees of Bild Edmonton Metro, along with over a hundred dedicated volunteers and professionals, have joined hands to translate this concept into reality. They represent a diverse spectrum of expertise, from general helpers to experts like electricians and framers.
The planned renovation is aimed at revamping the suite to infuse a contemporary touch while retaining its comforting essence. The goal is to create a homely environment for the temporary residents, who can relax and rejuvenate in the renovated space between their medical appointments.
The project’s underlying principle is underpinned by the belief that a calming environment can aid in the healing process of the patients. Thus, it is not just a space restructuring but also a caring initiative that can have significant positive impacts on the emotional well-being of the patients and their families.
Introducing user-friendly amenities such as laundry facilities, an in-suite bathroom, and an open family area, this renovation project is designed to meet the varying needs of the dwellers. It is essential for the initiative that the renovated basement provides all the necessary conveniences to the occupants during their stay at Amy’s House.
Trina Alain is the guest services coordinator at Amy’s House. She expressed her heartfelt appreciation for Bild Edmonton Metro embarking on this significant endeavor. The renovation is crucial for the non-profit, as financial constraints do not allow them the resources needed to undertake the refurbishing process themselves.
They believe that the remodeled basement will radically transform the available space, resulting in a more empathetic environment for patients and their families. This noble effort made by all the dedicated workers will enhance the organization’s ability to provide a soothing and comfortable experience for those undergoing these challenging times.
Upon completion, Amy’s House will have two fully renovated houses that will accommodate even more families coming to town for cancer treatments. Notably, these buildings are adjacent to each other, thus creating a large integrated facility. This development will bring them another step closer to their goal of offering the most comforting experience for those in their care.
The completion of this renovation project, which is estimated to be done over three days, is eagerly awaited. The eager anticipation is not just for the unveiling of a newly refurbished basement but also a renewed sense of hope and care for the brave guests they will be accommodating in the future.
