Gorgeous bride Lacey Martin of “Married at First Sight UK” (MAFS UK) fame has revealed that she’s lost a stone since the show concluded while showing off her new look in gym gear. She married Nathan in a dreamlike wedding on the program and their marriage has been smooth ever since.
Lacey, a 27-year-old office manager from Hertfordshire, tied the knot with Nathan, 24, in the latest season of MAFS UK. The beautiful bride recently shared her transformation journey, revealing the weight she managed to shed since her participation in the current series of the show.
Sharing photos in a sleek black gym top and maroon leggings, Lacey revealed her fitness secrets when a fan asked about her weight loss regimen. She responded that her weight loss is mainly due to reducing her portion sizes and increasing her physical activity. The glamorous MAFS star confessed, “I’ve lost a stone since MAFS!” She further elaborated, “My main problem is food! I’ve cut down my portion sizes! And do more exercises! I’ve recently got back into dancing. To me, it was mainly the food; I was having huge portions. I’m a foodie!”
Lacey’s revelation comes after viewers of the E4 show watched as Lacey’s mom and sister, Paige, visited her and her husband for “meet the in-laws” week. Unfortunately, the visit did not go as planned with her mother facing criticism for her perceived intrusive behavior and seemingly harsh questions towards Nathan during dinner. A joke from Nathan about her cooking even led her to burst into tears, making a normal family gathering a rather eventful one.
Despite the somewhat disastrous visit, many fans of the show stood by Nathan, who is diagnosed with ADHD. Their almost unanimous sentiment was that Lacey’s mother behaved like the stereotypical “mother-in-law from hell”. Some viewers even speculated that Lacey’s mother had a hidden motive for being a part of MAFS alongside her daughter.
In response to the criticisms hurled at her mother, Lacey defended her on social media. She said on Instagram, “my mum did not know Nathan was vegetarian, also she had no say in what we were eating, she was just told you’re making fajita!” She stressed that the show is edited for entertainment purposes and urged viewers to take it with a grain of salt.
Meanwhile, love birds Tayah Victoria and Adam Aveling from the sixth series of MAFS are still enjoying their marital bliss, having welcomed the first MAFS baby. Just 18 months after meeting, the couple welcomed their daughter, Beau. Season five couple Michelle Walder and Owen Jenkins have also managed to make their marriage work away from the cameras and had their first child in December.
Zoe Clifton and Jenna Robinson made MAFS UK history as the show’s first same-sex pairing. Despite some initial disagreements, mainly around Jenna’s vegan lifestyle, they are still going strong and even run a successful podcast together called ‘Life With a Pod’.
Overall, despite the challenges and negative attention sometimes garnered, the show seems to have been a positive experience for many of its contestants with some relationships truly standing the test of time.
