Tribute for Edward Karl Nick | Garden of Memories Funeral Home and Cem

Edward Karl Nick Jr., a resident of Covington, Louisiana, passed away on September 29, 2024, aged 63. Born on June 19, 1961, in New Orleans, he was a loving son, husband, father, and grandad, whose memory is cherished by his loved ones.

Edward, fondly known as Eddie, began his journey in life in New Orleans’ bustling metropolis. He later migrated to Covington, where he spent 25 unforgettable years raising his family. Eddie had a remarkable life, characterized by hard work, devotion, and heartfelt connections with those around him.

Eddie was not just a loving family man; he was also an ambitious individual who had a thriving career. After graduating from Bonnabel High School in 1980, Eddie started working with the Local 60 Plumber’s & Pipe-fitter’s Union. With years of dedication and tireless effort, he became a licensed master plumber. His career peaked when he became the owner of E.K. Nick Plumbing, LLC, where he endlessly served his customers, friends, and family. Known for his selflessness, he always put others’ needs ahead of his own, which matched his altruistic persona.

However, what made him the richest man in the world were not his professional accolades but his family. The family dinners they had were the highlight of his day. He was a true foodie and used food as a medium to express his love for his loved ones. Apart from this, Eddie loved spending his leisure time hunting and fishing with his friends and his grandson. He also relished marching with his buddies in the Irish Channel Parades.

Eddie found his life partner in Mitzi Roberts Nick, and they celebrated three decades of blissful marital union. He loved his wife and children unconditionally, and this affection earned him admiration from everyone he met. His warmth and kindness were his most notable attributes.

Eddie is survived by his wife, Mitzi, and his three children Brittany, Brook, and Addison. He leaves behind four grandchildren, Dominick, Kate, Griffin, and Luke, and his grand-cat, “Donna”. Survivors also include his siblings Kimberly and David, along with many family members who carry his memory in their hearts.

A celebration of Eddie’s life was held at The Chapel at the First Baptist Church on Murphy Road, Covington. Friends and relatives convened at the service on October 14, 2024, where visitation began at 10:00 AM, followed by the service at 11:00 AM.

In the memory of Edward Karl Nick Jr., memorial donations are being accepted for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. These donations strive to make a difference in the lives of those suffering from these diseases, reflecting Eddie’s life-long commitment to helping others.

Eddie’s legacy of love, determination, and selfless deeds will remain alive in the hearts of people whose lives were touched by him. He was a beacon of positivity, and his life, a testament to compassion and unconditional love.

In memory of Eddie, a memorial tree-planting initiative is in effect, which will stand as a testament to his life and the love he had for nature. The idea of a tree flourishing and providing shade and solace seems apt, reminding us of the comforting and nurturing person that Eddie was in life.
